The Tamagotchi device and packaging are original designs by Mitsuhiro Higuchi, using his unique artistic techniques.
The 30-year history of Tamagotchi is likened to geological strata, with colorfully designed Tamagotchis popping out from those strata.
You can even see silhouettes of Tamagotchis on the back of the packaging...?

Not only can you care for them by feeding them, flushing them, and curing their illnesses, but you can also discipline them and play mini-games!
Depending on how you raise them, they will grow into various characters.
Attach them to your clothes, bag, etc. with the ball chain and carry them around as a fashion accessory.
